1 John 4:19 "We love because He first loved us!"

Crave

Do you ever think that you are alright in the state of salvation that you are in at this moment? I think that some people think that it is alright to have a stagnant salvation.

We are fine just where we are, everything is going great. But are we in a rut, lost in our own salvation? This is a question that has been running through my mind in the last couple of days.

Ever see the image in amovie where the person is standing still and everything is rushing by them. I believe that we are not meant to stand still in our salvation. We are to be constantly growing more and more.

1 Peter 2:2-3 says "Like newborn babies, crave spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation..." We need to grow in our salvation, grow in our love and devotion to Him.

Last couple weeks, I have been speaking of the desperation that we as Christians must have for Christ our Saviour. Deperation for Christ, for the lost, and our salvation which is only found in Christ Jesus.

We must crave! Are you craving today? Leave me a comment as to how you feel about anything that I have written.

"As a deer gets thirsty for streams of water, I truly am thirsty for you, my God" Psalm 42:1 (CEV)

I know it this verse is used quite a bit, but I think it speaks directly to what you are saying. Our mouths should have that dryness, that parchedness, that inch, that hunger, need for our God!

A couple of my recent blog entries are on feeling 'drawn to the fire'. I want to go further with this, but need to give it more thought. There is a restlessness which is healthy within us. We live with a tension though, between craving - experience and fire - which come from God as a grace, and we cannot demand. We can argue - who says we can't argue!!! We can get down and tell the Father why we think we need it! But it is not our right, it is grace. And a lot of the time we are just plain tired, and lack momentum as the routines of life take over. But in those times there is potential fire as well. There are just different ways of getting to it. Brother Lawrence had a hold on it, as did the Desert Fathers. The fire of the Holy Spirit, when it touches us, gives us the gift of perspective - a clarity that gets lost when the flames die down and the phone rings, and the kids need feeding.

A lot of the time our cravings are also our egos getting in the way. We want an experience because once touched by the Holy Spirit we become experience junkies. Or we want to tell the world about Christ, but really what we want is the world to tell us we are right. We need to listen to our cravings intelligently, and know that the deepest one, which is the loneliness that is part of human existence, is potentially a solitude we can enter into with God. If we can switch off our ipods and get off the net. And in that solitude, lies the fire, and a place where God satisfies the craving of our hearts, and gives us the radiance of the love of Christ to shine into the world. That is my take on it anyhow. Come back and argue!

Eleanor,
That is the craving that we need that we plead. A craving only for the One to end all other cravings. The One that can only satisfy.

God is good!! Why can't we be experience junkies if we are got in the moment of the Holy Spirit in which touches like no one else. I understand that our own stupidity gets in the way alot of times, but can't we feed off the Holy Spirit, to spur us on to bigger and better things accomplished for the Kingdom of God.

I think it is impossible to truly knows the motives of a man. Whether on fire for Christ or not, we can never truly know or understand. But I know that if they are tellingus that we are right then they are agreeing with that Jesus is the only One that saves. Do you not think that this is alright?

I always joke, "I wonder if the Holy Spirit can use the technology in this day and age to be in communion with people who fancies that sorta thing?" Of course, God created everything including technology, so why would we think that He could not and would speak through that avenue.

Sorry I know that this is alot of rambling, but you raised some good points which I felt needed to address.
