Totally Depraved
Friday, February 16, 2007We believe that our first parents were created in a state of innocency but, by their disobedience they lost their purity and happiness; and that in consequence of their fall all men have become sinners, totally depraved, and as such are justly exposed to the wrath of God. Salvation Army Doctrine #5
Do we live in this world as Christians and actually believe that we justly exposed to the wrath of God?
Something I have been dealing with for quite a while in my own life. Even as a believers, do we honestly believe that we are to answer to God for everything that we have done on this earth against God. Seriously think about, when we sin and mean blantantly sin do we think about the consequences that we face if we do not truly repent and ask for forgiveness. We usually forget about the repenting part of the equation. Forgiveness is one thing and most of us doing a really good job at asking for it, but I believe as Christians we have lost the art of repentence. Repentence is the only hope of deliverance. Repentance is a deeply sorrowful remorseful action that should follow after asking for forgiveness. There is humbleness in remorse and repentence.
Our concepts of what is right and what is wrong are so screwed up that we don't know which way is up and which way is down. Sin is sin and I think that we have to understand what are the consequenses for our action. (No this is not a hell, fire and brimstone sermon) But how can we continue to follow the teachings of the Bible and of Christ if we ultimately reject the essence of the what is being said and taught.
Now don't get me wrong, I am guilty as this, as anyone else.
Just something to think about it. I'm not finished just tired.
