Great Words from Brengle

Monday, June 27, 2005

This appeared in Brengle's diary:

"If I appear great in their eyes, the Lord is most graciously helping me to see how absolutely nothing I am without Him, and helping me to kepp little in my own eyes. He does use me. But I am so concerned that He use me and that it is not of me the work is done. The axe connot boast of the trees it has cut down. It could do nothing but for the woodsman. He made it, he sharpened it, and he used it. The moment he throws it aside, it becomes only old iron. O that I may never lose sight of this."

"My concern is not whether God is on our side.
My great concern is to be on God's side." -Abraham Lincoln

Please feel free to comment on this quote.

Action!

I few months ago I attended the Kensico Memorial Service and read this on Samuel Logan Brengle's tombstone. I thought it was awesome, but thought provoking.

"I will go on...and sing Hallelujah!"

When life or people get you down, when it is easier to complain than to do something, think of this quote. Why complain, when there is action.

Uncharted

Wednesday, June 22, 2005

My mind is racing to the thought of nothing
So distracted and confused
Why must I continue this way?
On a course bound for nowwhere.
Tossed in the waters, hit by the waves.
My life is a boat with an uncharted course.

Thinking I know the way,
but lost in the darkness.
Not knowing the way,
I'm so off course,
Not sure if I find my way.

Confused by the waters,
I know theres a course.
I have read the map.
The map is clear at sometimes
and unclear at others.

I see a lighthouse,
should find my way there.

(Not sure where this came from.)
